Why Shop Spacedust?
We’re doing business differently, and redefining commerce. Shop Spacedust for an exhilarating experience that doesn’t break the bank, but does set it on fire:
1. Every purchase supports & sustains multiple independent & wonderful livelihoods & businesses.
- Your order directly benefits an earnest, hardworking (not to mention queer, BIPOC, and genderfluid) artist & designer, enabling her to continue her own craft. That’s Michelle, the person running this website and fulfilling your dreams (ahem, fulfilling your *orders* ;)
- In addition, Michelle’s so super passionate about what’s good for the planet and its people, that she prioritizes using economical, recycled, and upcycled supplies purchased from small & local businesses. See #2 below!
- And lastly, but certainly not leastly, Michelle’s curation of fun & inspiring gifts, clothing, accessories, and beyond is fiercely focused on finding the best, most innovative, and most inspiring designers and artists who make said goods, so we can support them, too. Her biggest goal? Connecting a network of brilliant creators so that our money stays circulating among people who deserve it (not icky corporations!)
2. Sustainable, eco-friendly, upcycled, re-used & recycled packaging!
- As a city dweller, Michelle knows there’s no score like the curbside dump. Not that she’s sourcing gross, smelly stuff – but she does scour her Los Angeles neighborhood for clean, used-but-still-useable cardboard, and makes boxes in the exact dimensions needed for every unique shipment. If the items being shipped are soft, Michelle cuts a piece of recycled kraft paper to just the right size, and wraps the items like a present. Why order brand new cardboard boxes or wasteful plastic mailers, when every order is a different size & shape? Why use brand-new packaging when millions of tons of paper products are going to landfills every year within the US alone?
- Okay, back to our info… within these handmade boxes & mailers, the contents of each order are wrapped securely in a recycled plastic bag to protect against moisture and environmental damage.
- To seal the package, Michelle uses eco-friendly, water-activated paper tape instead of plastic packing tape.
